:A Survival Guide on keeping up with the Hiltons by Perez Hilton
I believe this book came out in January and I've been dying to get my hands on it ever since. It's a really funny book because let's be serious, do any of us really have the desire to be a so called "hilton"? Okay well maybe we all secretly do so in that case this book is perfect!
My personal favorite part of this book is the foreword and afterword. The foreword is a letter from Andy Warhol starting off with his famous quotation "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes." As this "letter" by Warhol states we never knew how true his prophecy would become until we had the likes of reality tv, or even better Perez Hilton. No matter what, if its your turned to be talked about your face WILL be plastered on perezhilton.com with devil horns, a penis on your face, or coke coming out your nose (courtesy of MS paint of course). The book then divides its self into 3 sections: Becoming a Hilton, The future of a Hilton, and my life as a Hilton.
The first section, Becoming a Hilton, documents all the necessary schemes and steps it takes to become a hilton. Some of my person faves include; Be a skinny bitch, put the 'ho' in hollywood, pretend to give back, and just die already! The book is basically a big homage to all the big scandals and gossip worthy events that have taken place since Perez first started it off. It chronicles the time from when Nicole Richie was know as "zombie hands" to when Paris went to jail. It's a big pop culture reference book with funny quotes and those MS paint drawings we all know and love.
The future of a Hilton is basically about what new heights or old tricks the future of Hollywood will play out. Will little Harlow Madden hate Paris' first born? According to Perez you bet! Mostly he write about them taking after their parents i.e. Kingston Rossdale, Violet Affleck. Some have an ironic twist, Pam and Tommy's kids future pornographers? Maybe not so far fetched. It also shows whats to come for the current hiltons, Spencer and Heidi, still in reality tv!
Lastly there is My Life as a Hilton. Basically Perez talks about how he deals with the people he writes about, and how he builds a good relationship with sources. Although he doesn't post unconfirmed knowledge on his site he does include rumors which he wishes were true. Popular topics such as Lauren Conrad's sex tape, John Travlota is gay, and of course Oprah and Gayle are lesbians. It's fun to see his commentary and to see what goes on in his mind on a regular basis.
And the afterword, which I mentioned before, is Perez's answer in Andy's letter. Andy once said he was someone who would like to sit home and watch every party that he's invited to on a monitor. Perez does that, he does that and he also lets us all the parties that we WISH we were invited to on our monitors.
I thought this good was fun, fabulous, and obviously trashy. I guess this is a reoccurring theme for me but it is perfect for summer. And Britney wasn't picked on too much, Thanks Perez! If you love perezhilton.com pick up this book today!
